Owner Man-Sung Son has an engineering background, and worked 17 years for one of the Midwest's largest film equipment companies before founding SMS in 1984 with his wife and business partner Helena. He also has two degrees in film and has worked as a cinematographer and producer. Therefore, in addition to knowing the equipment inside and out, he understands the creative needs of a filmmaker and is able to handle technical problems that few others in the industry are capable of addressing.
