October has been an exciting month for Lighting. Lowel and LTM kits are extremely popular right now.
Some clients have commented that the Canon XL-1 DV camera they purchased has a less than desirable microphone with it. After shooting in a noisy environment, they discovered that the audio had a lot of echoes and reverberations. "The scenes had to be discarded as the audio was simply unacceptable." We advised that they get an XLR adapter and rent or purchase a Sennheiser shotgun microphone. As Sennheiser is one of the best names in the industry, they would surely succeed in getting acceptable sound.
We get calls! Yes, we do service cameras and lenses. In fact, that is our specialty. Whether it is an Arri, B&H, Bolex, CP, Eclair or even a Gizmo, video or film lens, we do the work here.
KATA has advised that the Photographer vest pictured in the catalog in black is now only available in light olive. The new vest is a nicer model than the one pictured.
Experimental Budget - SAG
Chicago production is seeking grips and a boom person. Does pay - but minimal. Knowledge of lighting is essential. Must be available for 4 weeks (M-F) starting Oct. 25th. Video shoot - One Location (North side of Chicago). Crew and actors are professional. Please fax resume to 312-664-5824.

NAMI's Cinematography class is a huge success. We had to close enrollment as we were overflowing. For everyone who wanted to take it but procrastinated until it was too late, please keep watching for the next class session. The instructor, Mr. William Birch, D.P., was honored this past weekend for 50 years in the business. As we have previously mentioned, our instructors are all first rate and experienced. They are teaching as part of their desire to pass on their knowledge and experience to a new generation of filmmakers.
Coming Soon - NAMI presents an intensive eight week Saturday class combining acting, advanced directing, cinematography and lighting. Each department will do their specialty as we shoot. Everyone who attends will receive a sample tape. Call or email for more info and to voice your interest in this unique opportunity.
