TCS TXM10-B Crystal MotorTCS TXM10-B Crystal Motor for Bolex H-16

  • Superior Flexibility!
    • Bolex spring-drive cameras above s/n 100,401 of 1955 are capable of excellent picture quality. The TXM10-B updates your trusty old Bolex (or, as well, a new Super-16 SBM or Rex-5) for the 1990's and gives multiple crystal speeds built-in plus external speed control. Increases camera width by 2.25" and height by .5". Weight is 36 oz.

  • For Old or Modern H-16's
    • While newer flat-bottom Bolexes (Rex-3 and up, above s/n 202,501 of 1963) give the most firm attachment, the motor can also be used with much older cameras. The 8-frame shaft is driven through a flexible coupling.

  • All-HMI Speeds
    • Fifteen speeds in all, from 5 to 60 FPS. Ten for 60 Hz HMI lights (5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40 and 60 FPS.) Eight for 50 Hz HMI lights (5, 10, 12-1/2, 16-2/3, 20, 25, 33-1/3 and 50 FPS.) A red sync alarm light shows if speed is lost. Speed accuracy is ±3 ppm or .0003%.

  • External Speed Control
    • You can connect TCS Milliframe Controllers and choose from some 55,000 speeds between 5 and 60 FPS. Pick 23.976 or 29.970 for filming music videos for Rank/Bosch video transfer in sync with CD, DAT or Hi-Fi audio. Pick a weird speed for filming from computer monitors. The shutter bar from monitors will be larger than with cameras having a 180º shutter opening, and will not be visible in the finder, possibly requiring the "kinescope system." For just the 23.976 and 29.970 speeds, choose the TCS Videoframe Controller. With either, changeover is automatic when the external controller is plugged into the WPI socket. A frame pulse is digitally synthesized for an external footage counter or for deluxe model speed controls.

  • Attachment and Power
    • The TXM10-B attaches with the two (one on older cameras) 3/8" tripod screws, plus a winding handle screw. Nylon anti-scratch posts give extra mechanical support. New 3/8" and 1/4" tripod threads with anti-swiveling slots are provided. The TXM10-B runs on 12 volts DC, through an industry-standard XLR 4-pin connector. A 7-pin Tuchel socket furnishes power to either model of magazine take-up motor.

A 7-pin to 4-pin "MM" cable for the MM take-up motor is available. If you have the EBM, EL or ESM you need instead the TXM-24 or -16 models.
