Designed by top network videographer Jim Doran, the Steady Stick is a "must have," back-saving device for cameramen and videographers. "I've been a TV cameraman for the last 35 years," said Jim. "And, I've used the Steady Stick for the past 14 years at conventions and on road trips. It's a `must have' tool for those long days, when you're out on location."
A Davis & Sanford product, manufactured by The Tiffen Company, the Steady Stick is the perfect tool to take the weight of the camera off the shoulder, steady camera movement, and provide mobility at any height or angle. And, although it is lightweight, it will support cameras as heavy as 30 pounds.
The Steady Stick system includes a quick connect coupling, camera plate adapter, a belt holster, and an elastic shock absorber. Void of any awkward harnesses, this unique tool conveniently fits into most camera bags.
"The Steady Stick is priceless when shooting over the top of people," said Jim. "I use it in stakeouts or in situations where we are kept waiting for extended periods. It keeps me from killing my back. Sometimes an interview will last for an extremely long time and it becomes difficult to hold the camera steady. With Steady Stick, you have no problem with any of that, and you can actually adjust the height while you are shooting."
Easy To Use
The Steady Stick allows for easy positioning at any angle. For low shots, keep the Steady Stick attached to the front connector. As you kneel or squat down, the Steady Stick will act as a platform, distributing the weight of the camera to the belt holster.
For midway shots, keep the Steady Stick attached to the front connector. The Steady Stick can be adjusted to any height that suits your needs. You'll notice a smoothness you would not achieve without it. For high-angle views or shooting over a crowd, you can completely remove the weight of the camera from your shoulder. This adds maneuverability and allows you to rotate the camera in a 360-degree swivel. For those instances when a tripod is preferred, your camera can be removed from the Steady Stick and connected to a tripod in one effortless motion.
